Therapy Mediums

Puppet Theatre

Puppets are a fantastic medium for projecting one's thoughts and feelings onto a concrete object that is separate from the self. We often perform dialogue in the sessions between different puppets as if they are the people in our lives, or even different parts of ourselves. This creates a wonderful platform of exploration, increased awareness, and also fun!

Sand Tray

Children absolutely love playing in this tactile and sensory rich medium, and many gravitate towards it! A large variety of figurines and miniatures provide the tools children may need to build a story or a scene in the sand. We use these stories they create to help children express themselves and recall/process events; be it from the past, a hope for the future, or even a dream.

Music Station

Part of the stimulating sensory awareness and bodily awareness, as well as part of creative expression, musical instruments provide children with another voice. We build songs together, practice following different rhythms, and find ways in which to strengthen our sense of selves. Building confidence and affirming identity naturally takes place within the melodious exploration of sound and music.

Doll House

From decorating a mansion for a royal family to recreating a home before divorce, the doll house is a magical way for children to recreate memories and transform abstract concepts (like being afraid of the dark) into a concrete solution (like adding lights to a room). Often children use the doll house to make sense of events or explain situations that are difficult to put into words.

Reading Nook

This comfortable chill space is where we often practice breath control skills; be it with a breathing buddy, blowing bubbles or playing the harmonica. With this slightly less formal area, children have the freedom to relax, let go of their defenses, and enjoy the safety and security of the play room. Deep and meaningful conversations often ensue from time in the reading nook or from the different story books the children delve into.
